What is web hosting?
Once you start creating your website files, how do you allow people around the world see them as your website? They need to be stored on a specialised computer (called a server) that is permanently switched on and connected to the internet using a much faster connection than the standard home-users connection. When a user types your web address into their browser, they are shown the files that are stored on this server. This process is called web hosting (i.e. the server is 'hosting' your website) and we can provide you with storage on our server to hold your website. Web hosting is a necessary aspect of running a website on the internet, enabling you to:
